Calendar conduit is set back to 'Do Nothing' after setting it to synchronize, and Calendar items do not sync

Article ID: 36077

This issue can occur when you are trying to sync your Outlook Calendar with your device. You set the conduit action for Calendar to "Synchronize the files," but when you perform a HotSync operation, the conduit is re-set to "Do Nothing" and your Calendar info is not transferred.

Why is this happening?
If you have set up an Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) account in VersaMail, the Calendar conduit will be disabled. When you perform a HotSync operation, Calendar items are not transferred. They are only transferred when you sync wirelessly with an EAS account in VersaMail.

This is because EAS wirelessly syncs your Calendar directly with the Exchange server. In order to prevent duplicates, VersaMail (and EAS) disables the Calendar conduit for HotSync.

If you use EAS, you have a choice: you can either sync wirelessly with VersaMail's EAS, or you can delete the EAS account and sync your Calendar via HotSync. You cannot choose to sync only email with EAS; your option is to sync email and calendar, or not to use EAS.

How to delete the EAS account and enable the Calendar conduit in HotSync
Be forewarned, this method will disable all synchronization via EAS (both email and calendar), and delete all email from the EAS account on your device.

  1. On your device, launch VersaMail.
  2. Open the menus . From the Accounts menu, select Account Setup.
  3. Highlight the account that uses EAS, and select Delete.
  4. You'll see a message: Your Exchange ActiveSync account syncs both email and calendar. If you delete it, the email account in VersaMail will be removed and all info in your device Calendar will be deleted. Do you want to continue? Select Yes.
  5. Your email for this account and your calendar will be deleted.
  6. Now, you can change the conduit action for Calendar to "Synchronize the files" and it will stay that way. The next time you sync, your Outlook Calendar items will be restored to your device from your local Outlook client.
