What is this software?
This software update provides device enhancements including improved Bluetooth®
wireless performance for some headsets and car kits, audio quality, and media file
functionality in Messaging. In addition, you'll get brand new features such as Push To
Talk, for walkie-talkie functionality, and Microsoft's Direct Push Technology to get your
latest email, appointments, and contacts sent directly to you, and more.
- Push to Talk¹ With Push to Talk, you can use your Treo 680
like a walkie-talkie to talk to one person or a group of up to 29. A quick glance at your
smartphone shows whether family, friends, and coworkers are available to talk before you
call.
- Corporate email as it arrives² Have your corporate email
delivered to you with Microsoft® Direct Push Technology. Accept or decline meeting
invites on the go and have your work calendar updated automatically. With the ability to
access your company directory wirelessly, you can quickly address an email to a colleague
just by typing a few letters.
- IM on your Treo smartphone Access your instant messaging service
from AOL, Windows Live Messenger, or Yahoo! A tabbed graphical Mobile IM interface makes
it easy to log in to your instant messaging accounts and quickly switch between IM
communities³.
- Easy access to additional services Easily access extra services
on your Treo smartphone such as TeleNav GPS Navigator and MobiTV for watching live
TV³.
- Power saving enhancements Helps conserve battery life with
improved power management and updated default system power preferences.
- Supports larger expansion cards Carry more of your work, music,
photos, and other files, with support for up to 4GB SD expansion cards (including the
SDHC format), sold separately.
- Enhanced ringtone support MP3 and other sound files purchased
from the web or sent from friends can now be set as ringtones and alerts. Supported
ringtone formats include MP3, AAC, AAC+, MIDI, WAV, and AMR.
- Cingular, now the new AT&T You€™ll notice updated
graphics reflecting the new AT&T branding, including a new look for the Xpress Mail
application.
- Three updates in one This update incorporates three previously
released software updates: Treo 680 Camera Update (January 2007), Daylight Saving Time
Update (February 2007), and Treo 680 Software Update 1.09 (May 2007).

contacts must also be subscribers to the AT&T Push to Talk wireless
service.
2 - Within wireless coverage area only. Email, web, and messaging require data
services from a mobile service provider at an additional cost. ISP and/or VPN may also be
required at additional cost. Microsoft Direct Push Technology requires Exchange Server
2003 with SP2 or Exchange Server 2007.
3 - Within wireless data coverage area only. Requires data services from a
mobile service provider at an additional cost. TeleNav and MobiTV require a subscription
at an additional cost. Within wireless coverage area only. For TeleNav, Bluetooth GPS
receiver required, sold separately.
Do you need this update?
- On your Treo 680, press Phone

- Press Menu

- From the Options menu, select Phone Info
- Look for the Software: item. What does it say?
- Treo680-1.03-CNG: Yes, install this update.
- Treo680-1.03-ATT: Yes, install this update.
- Treo680-1.09-ATT: Yes, install this update.
- Treo680-2.11-ATT: No, your smartphone is already updated.
- Treo680-1.04-ROW or anything else: No, do not install this update. This update
is not compatible with your device.

System Requirements
- AT&T or Cingular branded Treo 680. If you don't see the AT&T or
Cingular logo above your screen, you may have an Unlocked GSM device. This software
will not work on Unlocked GSM devices.
- Windows XP or 2000 (not compatible with Windows Vista). This product has been
discontinued; therefore, the installer has not been updated for Windows Vista. If you
have Windows Vista, please use the memory card method.
- Smartphone must be connected to power adapter and the sync cable throughout
the update.
- Do you use BlackBerry Connect™? BlackBerry Connect is not compatible
with the Treo 680 Update 2.11. DO NOT install this update if you intend to continue using
BlackBerry Connect (more info).
- Good Mobile Messaging users: You will need to re-download and re-install Good
Mobile Messaging after you install the Treo 680 Update 2.11. After you have completed the
update, visit www.good.com for
help.
- Xpress Mail users, and others: Do you use an add-on corporate wireless email
client to link to your Microsoft Exchange (Outlook), Lotus Notes or other account? Most
corporate email solutions have special back-up procedures to ensure the highest level of
security. Please contact your wireless email vendor or IT helpdesk to get the appropriate
back-up instructions before proceeding.
- Plug your smartphone into a power outlet and keep it plugged in throughout the
update.
- Ensure your smartphone has at least 24MB free space. Palm recommends 24MB of
free space to ensure proper operation. Check free
memory.
- Make sure HotSync Manager is installed on your desktop PC.
- Keep an eye on your smartphone during the update. Respond to prompts and
alerts in a timely manner.
- Do not leave your smartphone idle for too long while it's updating. The
process can fail if you leave your smartphone unattended.
- Do not reset, turn off, or unplug your device until the update is
complete.
